THE DANCE
The symphony of the moon or the frenzy of the rain?
Both, always both.
I’m greedy that way.
Shedding layer after layer of the me I created over the
years
Back, back to the me I barely know.
The beat quickens and I must dance
My lover awaits me and I must dance.
Slick, wet – rain and sweat
Or is it blood?
Who cares? Who cares? When the music beats faster and faster
and faster and faster and faster.
Move move move move move
Stillness is terrifying.
I will not be what I once was.
Churning, slipping, falling, crawling, ever moving
The beat the beat the beat the beat the beat the
beatthebeatthebeatthebeatthebeat!!!!!
Blood and sweat and
rain, pouring pouring all over me
Flowing over me, through me, into me.
My body the me I thought was me
Tearing apart in the glory of my dance.
I’m full so full of life, of me
Of the endless dance I chose to dance
Full to bursting – the cusp of life.
The music builds – the crescendo.
The sky my unpredictable lover calls
His, his, I and the world.
Pull me pull me, tear me up and pull me
Fire and rain in my arms to hold.
There, almost there, I’ve reached you
And then....
I
am, no longer.
"the beat the beat the beat the beat....." the frenzy
